Experimental Studies of the Evaporation of Pure Liquid Droplets in a Single-Axis Non-Resonant Levitator

Though a simple daily observation, evaporation of drops is still poorly understood due to the complex nature that involves hydrodynamic effects in bulk fluids and transport phenomena at liquid-vapor interface. This paper reports on single component droplets (water, ethanol, acetone, glycerol) levitated single-axis non-resonant levitator. It was observed acetone ethanol evaporated faster than water, although most volatile. The estimated lifetime less 5min, which much shorter as compared 56min for or about 90min water droplets. On other hand, glycerol showed no tendency evaporate. With increasing time, ratio large small semi-axis decreases tends 1 corresponding changes shape from oblate ellipsoid sphere. Based classical D2-law, surface regression rates have been estimated.
